Greater Shepparton City Council recently awarded the contract Tuff Turf N Co to construct the new multipurpose synthetic field forming part of the Greater Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct.
The $1.16 million works are jointly funded by the Australian Government and Greater Shepparton City Council.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Dinny Adem said works had begun and will include a new 18mm pile synthetic surface, lighting, fencing, footpaths and drainage.
“The multipurpose field will be line marked for hockey, however other sports will be able to use it for play and training sessions particularly in wet weather,” said Cr Adem.
“The new field will be fully fenced and the area will be well lit, to allow training to occur all year round.
“We would like to thank the sporting groups who currently use this area for their patience while the works occur,” said Cr Adem.
Sporting clubs will be able to book the use of the new multipurpose field through Council’s booking officer once the works are completed by the second week in May.
The overall Greater Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct is a $19m redevelopment; this investment will establish the precinct as a nationally significant sporting complex. The redevelopment will enhance Council’s ability to secure and retain new major sporting events and national championships that might normally be held in capital cities or interstate For more information visit www.greatershepparton.com.au
