Elevated Accessible Viewing Platform (Tom Cummins Stand) Bookings

Greater Shepparton City Council manages the Tom Cummins Stand Elevated Accessible Viewing Platform, available for use by event organisers, both commercial and not-for-profit organisations at events held in the region.

The platform is an asset that is being made available for use at events to improve the experience of those with a disability using wheelchairs / mobility aids at events to enhance their event experience.  This gives event attendees in wheelchairs / mobility aids the opportunity for a better and safer view to your event.

Conditions of Use

  • Event organisers, including both not for profit, community and commercial organisations may apply for use of the Tom Cummins Stand Elevated Accessible Viewing Platform (TC Stand).
  • The use of the TC Stand is available for use in the Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, Campaspe and Moira Shire Councils.
  • There are charges associated with the use of the TC Stand – dependant on event organiser status and location of use.
  • A bond is required to be paid prior to use and will be refunded if there is no damage or loss of equipment. Any costs associated with repair for damage obtained during hire will be at the cost of the hirer.  This will be determined by Council officers.  In the event of loss or theft of the trailer whilst in the possession of the hirer, an excess of $3000 is payable.
  • There are multiple and various additions to the TC Stand to enhance user comfort, compliance and ease of use. Hirers must ensure all additions are returned in the appropriate manner or costs for replacement will be borne by the hirer.
  • Prior to use, the event organiser MUST attend an induction of use of the trailer – or engage a contractor who has been inducted to install and pack up.
  • The TC stand must be collected and returned to the storage site situated at the Doyles Road Complex (DRC) located at 315 Doyles Road, Orrvale. Hirers must meet a Major Events team member at a mutually agreeable time to arrange collection and return. 
  • A minimum two-tonne towing capacity vehicle is required to tow the TC Stand. The TC Stand socket requires a flat adapter also.  The TC Stand has electric brakes also.
  • It is expected that at all times the TC Stand is presented in a neat, professional and compliant manner.
  • When placing the TC Stand at your event, event organisers must make sure the stand is placed in the most accessible area and/or arrange for the pathway to the TC Stand for wheelchairs / mobility aids to access easily. (see Events team for more information)
  • If multiple requests are received for the use of the TC Stand, Council reserves the right to determine the most appropriate event for use.
  • Council reserves the right to decline hire, or remove the TC stand from availability at its own discretion.
  • Council recommends drivers consult VicRoads regarding driving and towing regulations and procedures. Information can be found on the VicRoads website.
