Greater Shepparton City Council will once again be distributing green compostable bags across the municipality throughout February and March 2026.
In Summary
Residents can expect to receive their next complimentary roll of compostable bags to be used in the kitchen caddy, delivered to all households with a green lid bin.
Since the rollout in 2016, residents have demonstrated a commitment to improving waste management including sorting and placing waste in the appropriate bin. With this support, Greater Shepparton City Council have achieved great results for diverting waste from landfill.
Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure, Janelle Bunfield, thanked the community for their role in helping reduce waste to landfill.
“The compostable bags provided by Council meet strict Australian standards and are specifically designed to break down during the composting process. We urge residents to only use these bags in their kitchen caddies and green lid bins to maintain low contamination levels and maximise the benefits of this service.”
Residents without a complimentary kitchen caddy can visit Greater Shepparton City Council at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton, to request one from Customer Service.
Every household is entitled to receive up to two complimentary rolls of caddy liners per year. One roll is delivered to the property, and an additional roll is available for collection from Customer Service if needed. These caddy liners are to be used only for the kitchen caddy. Kitchen Caddies are also available upon request at Customer Service.
If you haven’t received your complimentary roll of compostable bags by 15 March 2026, please contact Council’s Customer Service team at 5832 9700 or email council@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
