The water level at the Margaret Street Pond will be lowered in the next week to allow for maintenance works to take place.
Lowering of the water level is being undertaken for a number of reasons including:
Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan said this is the second time this process had been carried out.
"The results from the drawdown in 2012 exceeded our expectations. We achieved a number of these aims, in particular the establishment of native wetland vegetation on the mudflats that proved to provide effective habitat for a large number of wetland birds."
"It is important we undertake this process to continue to improve wetland health."
The process will commence on Monday 8 July and last until Monday 15 July. The pond will fill again in late spring or early summer, depending on weather patterns.
