Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to advise it will soon be improving the road surface of Archer Street, Shepparton in two locations between Hayes Street and Channel Road.
Asphalt re-surfacing works have been identified as a part of Council’s Pavement Deterioration and Optimal Capital Works Program, and from feedback received through Council’s community satisfaction survey.
Works will commence on Monday 15 January and will consist of removal of failed asphalt and the installation of a new road surface at two locations between Hayes Street and Sutton Street and between Westmoreland Crescent and Channel Road.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said Archer Street is in the top five busiest roads in Greater Shepparton with approximately 12,000 vehicles using the route daily and is often identified in community feedback as a priority for works. “The cost of the works is in the order of $500,000 and are part of the Federally funded Roads to Recovery program,” said Mr Hoare.
“The Roads to Recovery Program supports the maintenance of the nation's local road infrastructure asset, which facilitates greater access for Australians and improved safety. The funding is important for Council to be able to upgrade some of our busier roads.”
“Motorists can expect some delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible. Motorists are requested to obey all worksite and advisory signage including traffic controllers to ensure their own safety and that of road workers,” he said.
Temporary bus stops will be set up with onsite notifications and directions advising patrons. Further detail on bus stops can be found at Public Transport Victoria https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/
