The Small Towns Festive Decorations Grants, Australia Day Grants, Seniors Festival Grants and Festive Events Grants are all open for applications until 27 May.
The Small Town Festive Grants provides grants of up to $2,000 for up to ten small towns in Greater Shepparton to enable local community organisations to purchase and install festive decorations such as lighting, Christmas trees, signage and banners.
The Australia Day Grants provide funding of between $500 and $3,000 to community groups who wish to acknowledge and celebrate Australia Day.
The Festive Events Grants provides grants of between $500 and $2,500 assist with facilitation of events and celebrations which build new social connections, encourage community participation, up-skill the community, deliver inclusive and accessible events and showcase local talent, artistic and cultural activity.
Seniors Festival Grants of up to $200 supports a range of activities and events that will allow seniors to participate in physical activities or attend social events and functions.
Council’s Director Sustainable Development Johann Rajaratnam encouraged community groups to apply for a relevant grant.
“If you are involved in a community group who need funding for an event, have a look at our website to see if you would be eligible for Council funding,” Mr Rajaratnam said.
A range of projects and events can be funded. In the most recent funding round Katandra West received a Small Town Festive Decorations Grant which the community used to install a mock Christmas Tree hung with huge baubles, tinsel and presents. At night thousands of fairy lights could be seen on the trees leading into Katandra and the old hall was heavily decorated with lights.
Applications for Council’s remaining grant rounds (Community Arts Grants, Community Matching Grants, Greater Shepparton Greater Health Grants, Our Sporting Future Grants and Small and Large Events Grants) will open in May.
