The current round of Greater Shepparton City Council’s grants programs will close in 4 weeks.
The Our Sporting Future, Community Arts Grants, Small and Large Event Grants and Community Matching Grants programs are all currently open for application until 5 February.
The Community Arts Grants of up to $2500 will support the development and implementation of community arts activities and projects as part of Council’s commitment to participation in the arts.
The Community Matching Grants offers grants up to $2500 to support one-off projects which build or strengthen Greater Shepparton communities and benefit the community.
The Events Grants (Small and Major Events) offer funding for both Small Events ($500 - $2000) and Major Events ($2000 - $5000).
The Our Sporting Future program offers three components – Minor (up to $15,000 with a $1 to $1 contribution), Major (up to $30,000 with a $1 to $1 contribution) and Sports Aid (up to $5,000). The Our Sporting Future Program assists community sporting organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development projects and development programs for new and emerging sporting organisations across the municipality.
Council’s Director Sustainable Development Johann Rajaratnam encouraged community groups to apply for a relevant grant.
“The programs fund a range of projects and activities. As an example, in the most recent round of the Community Matching Grants, funded projects included solar panels for the Katandra West Community Facilities Committee and a mobile storage unit for Congupna/Tallygaroopna Landcare,” Mr Rajaratnam said.
“The Our Sporting Future allocated funding to Tatura Lawn Tennis Club for court resurfacing and Murchison Swimming club received funding to purchase thermal pool blankets.
“The Community Arts Grants program allocated funding to the Shepparton Camera Club for their 60 year celebration and to the Better Together Alliance for a youth mural.”
The next information sessions will be held on Wednesday 27 January 2016 at 5.30-7pm to give people an opportunity to learn more about the grants on offer and ask questions of Council’s grants officers.
To RSVP for the sessions, contact Council’s Grants Coordinator on (03) 5832 9700.
