Investigation of Fragmented Farmland (Trewins Road, Tallygaroopna)
The Investigation of Fragmented Farmland for the Trewins Road, Tallygaroopna area was adopted by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 15 August 2017.
The Campaspe, Greater Shepparton and Moira Regional Rural Land Use Strategy, 2008 (RRLUS) was adopted by Council in 2010. At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 17 July 2012, Council resolved to implement the RRLUS into the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme. At the same time, Council also resolved to undertake further strategic work, being a review of the area around Trewins Road, Tallygaroopna due to the fragmentation of land.
This Investigation of Fragmented Farmland for the Trewins Road, Tallygaroopna area has now been undertaken and adopted by Council. The investigation includes a review of the existing subdivision, land ownership and land use patterns in the area, an assessment of the suitability of the land for commercial agriculture, and provides recommendations regarding the most suitable planning tools to manage this area into the future.
The investigation recommends that, although the land may have been subject to fragmentation, no change of planning policy is required to manage the Trewins Road, Tallygaroopna area into the future.
The recommendations of this document will be included in the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme as part of a future planning scheme amendment.
