Zaidee’s Legacy part of our Moooving Art herd

On the week of her 19th birthday, Greater Shepparton City Council and Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation celebrated the official launch of the new Zaidee Rainbow MooovingArt Cow, which will be placed in various locations around Greater Shepparton.

Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation was founded almost 12 years ago in honour of Zaidee Turner, who suddenly passed away of a cerebral aneurism at the early age of 7. The foundation was then established by Zaidee’s proud parents Allan and Kim, which advocates for organ and tissue donation though community work and educational outreach.

“Zaidee’s cow is a fantastic opportunity for the wider community to start a conversation with your family about organ and tissue donation in memory of my daughter Zaidee,” said Allan Turner, Chief Executive Officer of Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation and Zaidee’s proud dad.

Greater Shepparton City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Harriott said that he is honoured that Council can assist and support this great foundation.

“The MooovingArt cows are popular with children both locally and non-locally, and the placement of the Zaidee Rainbow Cow will not only reach out to children, but also their parents, grandparents and more, shining light on this important issue,” he said.

Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation is commonly known for its bespoke rainbow shoe laces, with the rainbow symbolising hope, that after every storm the sun shines and there is a rainbow.

Various other activities are undertaken by the foundation to increase awareness and fundraising. Zaidee’s branded bottled water will be launched through IGA Shepparton with all proceeds going to the foundation, involvement in the BBL and WBBL Cricket will see a Zaidee’s round starting 8 January 2017 and the Australian Cricket team will be playing a One Day International against Pakistan on 15 January. A recent partnership was also formed with compression and sportswear company SKINS, where for the month of November a proportion of online sales will be donated to the foundation.

In addition to this, the foundation is currently developing a documentary titled “Dying to Live”, where the Zaidee Story and Allan Turner’s journey is a major focus. It will follow a number of charters across various countries through their journey of both pre and post-transplant, while also reviewing systems overseas and how Australia can advance in becoming a world leader in organ and tissue donation.
