Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce Shepparton as the host location for the Vicsport CEO’s Conference in August. Fifty CEOs from sporting codes and organisations around Victoria will meet in Shepparton to explore common themes and identify future directions for facilities and sports development.
Vicsport are the organising body for the conference and is an independent member-based organisation representing Victoria’s sports and active recreation sector.
CEO Vicsport Lisa Hasker said “We are pleased to be returning to Shepparton, as their enthusiasm for sport and sporting events makes it an ideal place for Vicsport’s conference and a fitting venue for Victorian sport leaders to discuss future strategy. Greater Shepparton City Council’s support in organising the event has been outstanding and we’re looking forward to a fantastic couple of days”.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe, says this is the second time the event has been held in Shepparton, last time we hosted the event in 2014. The conference provides a terrific opportunity to showcase Greater Shepparton’s sporting facilities including Shepparton Sports City and build on our success in hosting big ticket sporting events. We are also keen to pursue new events that may include some of our natural assets including the river and bushlands,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
“Hosting a conference like this builds on our reputation as a leading events destination and will build and strengthen relationships with key sporting groups in Victoria,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
“The CEOs coming to the conference will be shown our Shepparton Sports City and be taken on a tour of facilities, all of which will help position our region for future state, regional and international sporting events. And of course we will be making the most of the opportunity to share with the delegates some of our fabulous regional produce.”
“The next 12 months sporting events calendar is shaping as a real boom for business and industry in the region as we strive to be the sporting capital of regional Australia and securing this event further highlights our growing list of recent events announced including the 2018 Victorian State Netball Titles, 2018 Basketball Australia Under 14 Club National Championships, 2019 Tennis Seniors Australia Teams Carnival and Australian Individual Championships, 2019 Victorian Country Week tennis and the 2019 BMX Australia National Championships”
The conference will be held on 22 and 23 August at Shepparton Sports City.
