Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking feedback from community members on the next Katandra West and Merrigum Community Plans, to identify and prioritise projects and activities for the next five years.
A survey is available for anyone who lives, works or plays in Katandra West or Merrigum to have their say and help shape the future of their communities.
The Katandra West Community Plan was developed in 2012 and since its inception, the Committee has worked with Council, State and Federal Departments, organisations and the Katandra West community to complete the new Katandra West Community Centre, develop a welcome pack for new residents to the town, improve the school crossing, install a new town entry sign and light into the Recreation Reserve.
The Merrigum Community Plan was developed in 2004 to provide a mechanism for community members to contribute to and actively promote the revitalisation and development of the township of Merrigum in a positive way. The Merrigum Community Plan underwent a full review in 2012 through extensive community consultation.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community Kaye Thomson said it’s now time to revisit the priority projects and activities of the original plans with new ideas and suggestions for the future.
“Community planning is important as it empowers our communities to drive their development and identify their own priorities for their town.
“I encourage residents who are involved with the Katandra West and Merrigum communities to complete the survey and help form the Community Plans, shaping the future of the town in which they live, work and play,” said Ms Thomson.
