Carols by Candlelight lighting up the Queens Gardens and in homes around the region
Families across Greater Shepparton will once again be able to celebrate the festive season at Carols by Candlelight this Sunday 23 December live at the Queens Gardens or through partnership with the Shepparton News, residents can livestream the event from their devices.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou said the event was something for every member of the community to participate in.
“For many years the organising committee have worked hard at creating an entertaining show for families across Greater Shepparton to enjoy and this year Council will be sharing the Christmas festival with members who cannot make it on the evening,” Ms Christou said.
“This will give members of the wider community who cannot travel to the event the opportunity to still witness the wonderful local talent and amazing pyrotechnic displays all from the comfort of their own home.”
“The spirit of the event has always been to bring the community together and with online technology Carols by Candlelight can connect more people than ever before.”
This year the night will kick off at 6.30pm with some of the community’s favourite carollers and a few new exciting acts to take the stage throughout the evening.
Many talented locals will perform their favourite songs and also encourage the audience to join in and sing along with the Traditional Carols.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy the free event which is proudly sponsored by local businesses.
Please bring chairs, cushions and rugs to allow for a comfortable evening. Carol books, food vendors, ice cream trucks and coffee vans will also be available throughout the night. Residents can even purchase glow in the dark merchandise and glow sticks.
The evening wouldn’t be complete without a spectacular pyrotechnic display finish, sponsored by GMCU this year’s pyrotechnical show is set to light up the stage and thrill the audience.
The organising committee wish to advise any pet owners within the vicinity to bring their animals indoors during the display from 9:30pm – 9:45pm.
Council would also like to inform commuters of road closures on Nixon St between Welsford and Wyndham Streets between 4pm-10pm on Sunday for the event.
