Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 wrapped up on Sunday 29 September, with a day full of action at the Shepparton Skate Park, marking the successful conclusion of a month-long celebration dedicated to youth.
The day included a learn-to-skate workshop and an exciting BMX, Skate, and Scoot competition, judged by international expert Renton Millar. Young people from across the region showcased their skills, coming together to compete for the chance to win medals.
In addition to the competition, First Nations artist Tammy Lee Atkinson led a Deadly Deks Art Workshop, where participants expressed their creativity by painting their own skateboard decks with unique designs.
Throughout September, Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 offered a diverse range of free and low-cost workshops and activities designed to engage and inspire local youth. The festival included art workshops, sporting events, social activities, and opportunities for young people to learn new skills and build friendships.
Council’s Director Community, Louise Mitchell, reflected on the success of the month-long celebration.
“Greater Shepparton Youth Fest 2024 was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and showcase the talents of our young people, providing them with chances to express themselves creatively, get active, and make lasting memories,” she said.
“We are proud to support initiatives that empower our young people and look forward to hosting more events that inspire and connect them in the future.”
Council extends its thanks to partners, including the State Government, FReeZA, Shredability, all event organisers, and everyone who attended and participated throughout the festival. Your involvement made this Youth Month truly memorable.
