The Tatura community has once again come together to support a great cause at the 31st annual 100 Lap Challenge, held on Saturday 22 February 2025 at the Tatura Swimming Complex. The event saw participants of all ages and abilities take to the water, raising an impressive $5,720 for the Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility.
In Summary
The long-running fundraiser has become a highlight on the community calendar, helping to provide essential equipment and facility upgrades at Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility. Since its humble beginnings as a friendly pub wager, the event has raised $95,000, funding items such as new beds, Ventolin pumps, a piano, an oxygen concentrator, a bladder scanner, wheelchairs and garden and fencing upgrades.
Council's Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said the event continues to show the strength and generosity of the local community.
“The 100 Lap Challenge is all about coming together to make a real difference. Year after year, participants show incredible commitment and generosity, and this year was no exception,” he said.
Tatura Local and Event Volunteer, Gary Whyte, said the turnout and enthusiasm were inspiring.
“The event has a strong connection to Tatura, highlighting two of its important assets, the Hospital and the Parkvilla Aged Care Facility,” he said.
“It’s incredible to see so many people take part in this event and continue its legacy. Reaching 31 years is a testament to the dedication of our community and we look forward to continuing the event into the future and raising more funds for these vital facilities.”
Council would like to extend its thanks to all organisers, participants, sponsors and volunteers for their support in making the event another success.
