Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging residents to apply for casual, paid School Crossing Supervisor roles currently available throughout the municipality.
In Summary
School Crossing Supervisors provide an important service during busy school crossing times, supporting students and pedestrians to travel safely to and from our local schools.
There are 26 supervised school crossings across Greater Shepparton. Council is seeking dependable, friendly individuals who are available during weekday mornings and afternoons during school terms. The role is a fantastic opportunity for people who value flexibility, routine and community connection.
No prior experience is required to apply. Council will provide successful applicants with full training, uniform, and support to ensure they are well prepared and confident in their responsibilities. All applicants must complete a Working with Children Check and a Police Check as part of the recruitment process.
These are paid, casual roles during school terms only, with shifts generally scheduled:
This opportunity is ideal for those who enjoy structured part-day roles that offer a sense of purpose without taking up the full day. Council encourages expressions of interest from retirees, parents, carers, students and those working in part-time or casual jobs who are seeking extra hours or more meaningful work.
To help interested individuals learn more about the role, Council is hosting a free information session on Tuesday 10 June from 1.00pm to 2.00pm at the Welsford Street Council Office. The session will include an overview of the position, application details, and the chance to ask questions directly to Council’s Community Wellbeing team.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the program plays a key role in keeping families safe while building stronger community connections.
“School Crossing Supervisors play an essential role in keeping our community safe,” he said.
“These positions are a great opportunity for locals to take on meaningful, flexible work that supports our children and families. Council is proud to offer these roles to people who want to make a positive impact close to home.”
Successful applicants will be employed on a casual basis and supported through Council’s onboarding and induction process. They will receive guidance from the Community Wellbeing team and be connected to a network of fellow supervisors across the region.
Those interested are encouraged to apply through Council’s online recruitment portal here.
Applications close at midnight on Friday 13 June 2025.
