Greater Shepparton City Council released its Stage 3 Economic and Social Response to COVID-19 Package to continue supporting recovery and reactivation in Greater Shepparton.
Council’s Stage 3 Package will see in excess of $600,000 to target four key pillars including Business and Economy, Community, Visitor Economy and Advocacy that will continue to strengthen the ongoing resilience demonstrated by the Greater Shepparton community.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said Council was committed to supporting our community on the road to recovery.
“The impact of the pandemic is immense and Council truly understands that businesses and members of our community are still experiencing social, mental and economic hardship. The stage 3 Package will provide support to meet the immediate and future needs of the community,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
Council’s Stage 3 Package highlights 22 initiatives to provide further support for our local community.
To further support local small and medium businesses Council will also be implementing complimentary, timed parking from 1 November 2021 until 28 February 2022.
“The Shepparton CBD is naturally busier around the summer holiday period and as we open up in accordance with Victoria’s roadmap we want to incentivise support of our local businesses with a complimentary parking initiative.” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“Council will also continue to advocate to the State and Federal Governments to fund major initiatives designed to stimulate our economy and assist with recovery. Greater Shepparton is in a relatively strong position thanks to the strength of the community over the past 18 months, businesses adapting to alternative ways of servicing customers and our local community supporting these businesses as much as possible. Greater Shepparton is a resilient community and I am confident we will recover from these challenging times and come out the other side stronger together.”
Further information on the Stage 3 Package will be available on Council’s COVID-19 package webpage COVID-19 Package and Council will continue to keep the community updated on future initiatives.
Council encourages members of the community to speak to a Council Officer if they need assistance with the Stage 3 Package, please phone Council on 5832 9700.
