Shepparton BMX Multi-Use Events Pavilion named finalist for 2025 Victorian Sport Award

Greater Shepparton City Council is proud to announce that the Shepparton BMX Multi-Use Events Pavilion has been named a finalist in the Local Government Initiative of the Year category at the 2025 Victorian Sport Awards.
The category recognises a Local Government Authority that has made a significant contribution to sport through the development of a participation program or facility which delivers positive community outcomes.
The Shepparton BMX Track underwent major upgrades in 2025, including the completion of a new multi-use events pavilion. The upgrades provide elevated views of the BMX track, creating an enhanced spectator experience while also serving as a central hub for events and community gatherings.
The two‑storey pavilion includes accessible and all gender toilets, meeting spaces, storage areas, a first aid room, catering facilities, a flexible event space and an outdoor undercover viewing area.
Delivered in partnership with Council, the Shepparton Cycling Club and the Shepparton BMX Club, the project was supported with funding from the Victorian Government’s Regional Sporting Infrastructure Program.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, commended everyone involved in delivering this project.
“This is a fantastic recognition of the passion and hard work that went into creating a facility the whole community can be proud of,” he said.
“The project was a great collaboration with the Shepparton BMX and Cycling Clubs leaving a lasting legacy for the community and visitors for decades to come.”
“Thanks also to the local contractors who helped bring the project to life, including Moretto Building Pty Ltd, Watters Electrical Pty Ltd and Preston’s Turf and Garden.”
The Victorian Sport Awards celebrate and recognise outstanding achievements and contributions from individuals, teams, clubs and initiatives that strengthen and inspire sport and physical activity across Victoria.
Four finalists are selected for each award category by an independent judging panel comprised of Olympians, former athletes and Victorian sport administrators from across the state’s sporting sector. Category award winners will be announced at the 2025 Victorian Sport Awards ceremony on Wednesday 13 May 2026.
“The new pavilion not only supports local participation but reaffirms Greater Shepparton’s position as a destination for major sporting events,” Mayor Sali said.
Since the completion of the upgraded facility, Greater Shepparton has hosted several high-profile events, including the 2026 GWM BMX Racing National Championships and Round 4 of the AusCycling BMX Racing State Series in the last few weeks, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region.
