Shepparton is ready to shine bright, as the transformation for White Night begins for the festival to take over on Saturday 25 June.
Transforming the streets, landmarks and public spaces for one night only, the light, art and cultural festival will be one of the biggest event layouts the city has ever seen, with more than 30,000 visitors expected. Spreading from the Victoria Park Lake precinct, the event captures Wyndham Street, Sobraon Street, Tom Collins Drive, Welsford and Vaughan Streets and Monash Park.
Greater Shepparton City Council is working closely with the event organisers to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. This will involve significant road closures occurring in the event precinct, impacting on travel movements and parking.
Please be aware that road closures will be in place during the evenings leading up to the event from Tuesday 21June to allow for event installations to occur, road closures will take place on the Midland Highway, Welsford Street and Vaughan Street.
Road closures will occur for the event from Saturday 25 June 12.00pm to Sunday 26 June 1.00pm on Wyndham Street, Sobraon Street, Tom Collins Drive, Welsford Street, and the Midland Highway.
Road Closure details can be found on the Visit Shepparton website.
To allow for locals and visitors to park with ease there will be two Park ‘n’ Ride Services available for White Night attendees, located at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve on McLennan Street and the Shepparton Marketplace on Benalla Road.
This will be a free service offering visitors and locals the opportunity to park at either of these locations and take a bus service which will then drop them off at the Maude Street Bus Interchange. The Maude Street interchange is located one block away from the Vaughan Street event entrance and a short 10 minute walk from the Shepparton Art Museum and Victoria Park Lake event sites.
The buses will be scheduled to run every 15 minutes.
The Shepparton Bus Network will also be operating during the night of the event, with routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. You can access the bus timetable through the Public Transport Victoria website or smart app.
Additionally, with the footprint of the site being so large we encourage anyone who is driving to the event to utilise the various on street and off street car parks located in the CBD and walk to the event precinct as all 28 activations will be accessible all evening from 6pm until midnight allowing great flexibility to manage your White Night experience.
We encourage all travellers to Shepparton and the White Night event to plan ahead to maximise their experience.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali encourages the community to support the event.
“White Night is a significant event for our state and it is an incredible opportunity for our region to be hosting the first regional event for the year. This will be like nothing you have ever seen before with installations showcasing Shepparton’s history across the Shepparton Art Museum building, trees and landscapes through Victoria Park Lake, the outdoor Pool at Aquamoves, the historical Waterworks Trust building and Monash Park,” Cr Sali said.
“For White Night to be a successful event in our city road closures are needed to be put in place, ensuring the safety of those attending is a priority.
“Please plan ahead, browse online and map your route ahead of time, car pool with friends, utilise the free Park n Ride service or even walk or ride a bike if you live close by as you won’t want to miss out on this amazing festival.”
