Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce the completion of a brand-new modular change room facility at Wanganui Oval in Shepparton, significantly improving accessibility and comfort for players, officials, and visitors.
Funded through the Victorian Government’s Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions Community Booster package, the facility was delivered by local contractor JMB Modular Buildings Australia.
The new modular change room facility at Wanganui Oval has been thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse needs of players, officials, and visitors. It includes two spacious change rooms that support team preparation and recovery, along with dedicated trainer’s rooms to assist with injury management and athlete support.
The facility also features modern, accessible toilets and showers, ensuring inclusive access for users with mobility challenges. Umpires are catered for with their own private change space, complete with accessible amenities tailored to match officials. Conveniently located adjacent to the car park, the building offers direct access, enhancing safety and ease of entry for all users.
This project complements recent lighting and irrigation upgrades at Wanganui Oval, creating a more inclusive and functional space for community sport.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the new facility represents a significant investment in the future of local sport and community wellbeing.
“The new modular facility is a game-changer for Wanganui Oval. It ensures that all users, including those with accessibility needs, have access to high-quality, modern amenities that support participation, comfort, and safety,” he said.
Councillor Steven Threlfall, McEwen Ward, said the upgrade is a great outcome for the northern part of Shepparton.
“Wanganui Oval is such a valued community space, especially for our schools, local sporting clubs, and families. This new facility will encourage more people to participate in sport and recreation, with the confidence that the amenities are modern, inclusive and fit-for-purpose,” he said.
