Greater Shepparton City Council invites residents and visitors to support local this summer and explore the range of producers, makers and creators in our backyard.
As the food bowl of Australia, there’s an abundance of fresh produce on offer throughout Greater Shepparton and passionate, innovative locals creating exceptional products to go along with it.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe, said the community has worked hard at keeping each other safe and now’s the time to give back.
“Our local hospitality and visitor economy are recovering from the impact of the pandemic and throwing their doors open with an abundant choice of quality dining, places to stay and experiences within the region,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“I strongly encourage our local community to support local businesses and put Greater Shepparton products on their tables this summer and it is with great pleasure that we have the help from Chyka Keebaugh to share our products across all of Australia.”
Greater Shepparton City Council has partnered with Chyka Keebaugh to present to visiting Victorians, Chyka Loves, showcasing the finest Greater Shepparton products.
Having visited the region in 2019 for her book signing tour, Chyka fell in love with the great produce and creations on offer and is now sharing her favourite picks with the rest of Australia, from local produce to artisan creations Chyka loves our producers, makers and creators as much as we do.
“I loved exploring Shepparton and I can’t wait to see more of the region and I know the rest of Victoria will too. There are so many creators out there making such extraordinary things and I really believe this is the time to be discovering what’s in our own backyard,” said Chyka Keebaugh.
As travel restrictions lifted Visit Victoria launched its state-wide campaign “Stay Close, Go Further” to encourage Victorians to hit the open roads and rediscover and connect with all areas of the state.
There’s Many Great Things for Greater Shepparton to offer to the wider state, from open spaces and breathtaking sceneries to wineries, breweries and cideries and everything in between.
Tourism Greater Shepparton President Ingrid Thomas said “The Goulburn Valley is rich in undiscovered and special experiences, with abundant fresh local produce, remarkable people and stunning scenery.”
“The travel voucher scheme offers visitors fantastic value when planning a stay in the Goulburn Valley. We look forward to sharing our region's secrets with both returning and new visitors.”
Travelling within Victoria is now easier with Greater Shepparton fitting within the State Governments Regional Travel Voucher scheme. Opened on Monday 14 December, Victorians can receive a $200 rebate after spending $400 on an eligible service or experience and staying a minimum two nights in regional Victoria.
“Now is the perfect time for our community to invite their far away family and friends to stay in Greater Shepparton and reconnect over our unique offerings,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
