Residents may have noticed a big difference around Victoria Park Lake recently, with the installation of new pedestrian lights along the shared pathway.
Greater Shepparton City Council, in conjunction with local company Byers Electrical, installed 64 new lights along the pathway surrounding the lake with the lights synchronised to change colour, creating an impressive visual display.
This lighting upgrade is in addition to works which took place in 2018 and 2019 to improve the safety and visibility on the shared pathway network around the lake precinct. Council’s Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said the lighting improvements were part of the overall strategy which addressed actions from the Precinct Master Plan.
“It is fantastic to see the improvements made to the lighting infrastructure around the shared pathway network at Victoria Park Lake. We see a significant number of people using the shared path network each day and it is clear how popular this space is for residents and visitors to the region,” he said.
Mr Randhawa said the LED lighting was also more energy efficient than the previous infrastructure.
“The strip lighting within each pole is programmed to change colour at night which is an added feature we think really enhances the entire lake precinct,” he said.
“We hope the community enjoy the colourful light display which this upgrade has provided and we hope the new lighting encourages more residents to utilise the space in the mornings and evenings.”
