How Greater Shepparton can support communities impacted by bushfires

Greater Shepparton City Council is continuing to closely monitor the bushfire situation in neighbouring municipalities. While there are currently no emergency warnings for Greater Shepparton, the fire danger rating for the North Country district has been declared catastrophic.

Council is in contact with relevant agencies and neighbouring councils and is ready to provide operational support as required. This includes making Council facilities available for response agencies managing livestock, pets, and horses. Council is actively participating in a coordinated regional response to support those impacted.

Council acknowledges the strong interest from our community in helping those affected by bushfires. While these intentions are greatly appreciated, Council cannot accept donations of clothing, goods, or prepared food at any Council-managed facility. Prepared food donations will be disposed of due to State health requirements.

The most effective way to help is through the official State Government donation platform GIVIT. GIVIT ensures that assistance goes directly to those who need it most by matching donations to specific requests from emergency services and impacted households.
