Greater Shepparton City Council is proud to welcome Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets to the region for a high-level Ninja A-League Women fixture that will bring elite football close to home for local fans and young players.
In Summary
Shepparton has been announced as the host city for the Round 16 match on Saturday 7 February 2026, with kick off at 5pm at John McEwen Reserve, Shepparton Sports City. The match will headline a multi-day program featuring school clinics, a masterclass session and community coaching workshops for local clubs and emerging players.
Delivered in partnership with Melbourne Victory and the Victorian Government, the initiative strengthens the growing connection between elite football and the Greater Shepparton community.
The Club will also be working across schools and community services to provide people from all backgrounds with access to quality football opportunities.
This visit builds on Victory’s previous partnership activities in Shepparton and reinforces the Club’s commitment to delivering elite football experiences in communities across Victoria.
“Our community has a proud football history, and this is a fantastic opportunity not only for football fans, but for everyone who enjoys seeing elite sporting talent in our own backyard,” Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said.
“We are excited to welcome Melbourne Victory to our region for one of its home games. Greater Shepparton prides itself on hosting high-level events, and this will be no exception. It’s a remarkable opportunity for our aspiring female footballers to witness some of the best players in Australia.”
“I want to thank Melbourne Victory for their confidence and commitment to our region. We are excited to strengthen this partnership and look forward to the incredible outcomes it will deliver for our community into the future,” Cr Sali said.
“I also want to acknowledge Council’s Events team for their tireless work behind the scenes. Without them, this event would not be possible. I encourage everyone to get along to the match in February.”
Melbourne Victory Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, said bringing the A-League Women’s side to Shepparton for a competitive fixture represents an important step in creating meaningful pathways for young players in regional areas.
“We’re delighted to return to Shepparton with our A-League Women’s team. This initiative strengthens our commitment to the region and provides a significant opportunity to further develop our connection with football fans and participants across regional Victoria,” she said.
“Melbourne Victory is committed to creating genuine access to the world game for all Victorians, and programs like clinics, workshops, and direct engagement with our ALW stars help nurture the next generation of football players and fans.”
