Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce that Round 1 and 2 of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series will be held in Shepparton over the ANZAC Day long weekend in April next year.
Greater Shepparton has a strong reputation of hosting successful state, national and international BMX events within the Shepparton Cycling and BMX precinct, including recent events such as the 2019 and 2023 BMX National Championships, the 2020 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, and the 2021 Victorian State BMX Championships.
The AusCycling BMX Racing National Series is an elite competition showcasing Australia's top BMX racers and features a series of events across various locations in Australia, with riders competing in thrilling races for national rankings and titles. The series attracts both professional and amateur riders, offering a platform to delve into high-speed BMX action and ultimately determine the country's best.
Rounds 1 and 2 of the AusCycling BMX Racing National Series will be the first event back at the Shepparton Cycling and BMX Track since the construction of its new BMX Multi Use Events Pavilion. The facility will soon unveil further game changing upgrades as part of the Victorian Government's Regional Sports Infrastructure Program (RSIP).
Construction is already underway for a new two-storey multi use events pavilion that will offer elevated views of the BMX track and create an improved atmosphere and experience for spectators, while serving as a new hub for events and community gatherings.
The upgrade is part of a suite of projects funded under the RSIP program, including improvements to the BMX track and starting hill, which will improve conditions for riders, spectators and broadcasters, along with new lighting for the adjacent velodrome, which will enhance the region’s ability to host world class events.
BMX racers from across Australia will make their way to Greater Shepparton to compete in the National Series from 26 April to 27 April 2025, attracting over 1,500 participants, officials, families and visitors for the two day event, and injecting in excess of $1 million into the local economy.
