A campaign has been developed in a collaborative effort between GV Health, Greater Shepparton City Council and local community organisations, to encourage the final 5000 eligible people to be COVID-19 vaccinated in Greater Shepparton.
A campaign has been developed in a collaborative effort between GV Health, Greater Shepparton City Council and local community organisations, to encourage the final 5000 eligible people to be COVID-19 vaccinated in Greater Shepparton.
As at October 3, 89% of people in the Greater Shepparton Local Government Area had received a first dose COVID-19 vaccination and 52% are fully vaccinated. These are promising statistics, however more sobering is that there are currently 102 COVID-19 cases still active in the local community. Further, across the state where 10,000 cases were recorded from the seven days to Tuesday this week, 7% of these cases were fully vaccinated, 15% were partially vaccinated and 78% were unvaccinated. It is therefore vitally important for all eligible people to be COVID-19 vaccinated so that we are all COVIDSafe.
A number of measures being implemented in Greater Shepparton are part of the vaccination drive, including the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine now being available at the McIntosh Centre Vaccine Hub, the Vaccine Hub opening on Sunday October 10 for Moderna and second dose Pfizer vaccinations, and Jabba the Bus operating around the town.
Mobile billboards, radio, newspaper advertising and social media will be rolled out as part of the campaign. A tracker will provide a countdown of the approximate number of people still to be vaccinated in Shepparton over the coming weeks.
“We really want our community to be as COVIDSafe as possible and the only way to do this is for the remaining unvaccinated people in Greater Shepparton to get the jab done’”, said Matt Sharp, Chief Executive, GV Health.
“We know that being vaccinated is helping keep the community, our friends, neighbours and families safe. We encourage the remaining 5000 people to be vaccinated as soon as possible,” Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said.
“These vaccinations will help our community open up once again and allow our local business owners to get back doing what they love, serving the region, especially in the lead up to Christmas.”
COVID-19 vaccinations in Greater Shepparton are freely available at the GV Health Vaccine Hub at the McIntosh Centre at the Showgrounds, at pharmacies and general practices, and at Rumbalara.
