Do you belong to a community group or organisation that is keen to realise interpretive signage on our shared cultural or built history?
Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce the launch of the Greater Shepparton Heritage Interpretive Signage Funding Program to promote places of local heritage significance (buildings, structures and sites), and to increase public awareness and understanding of these places across Greater Shepparton.
Community groups and organisations are eligible to apply for funding to establish an interpretive sign for places of local heritage significance. Funding is for 50 per cent of the total cost of works with up to $5,000 available on a $1 for $1 basis.
Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said that the funding program was an excellent way to celebrate Greater Shepparton’s historical and cultural places of significance.
“This program aims to provide these places with the recognition they deserve and increase the public’s awareness of our shared heritage,” she said.
“I encourage any eligible community groups or organisations to apply for their share of funding.”
For a proposal to be eligible for funding, the proposed signage must relate to a place or object within Greater Shepparton and be within the Heritage Overlay of the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme; or listed as a place of significance in the Victorian Heritage Register.
Further information, including the eligibility criteria and a copy of the Greater Shepparton Heritage Interpretive Signage Guidelines, March 2022 can be found online here.
The closing date for expressions of interest to participate in the program is Friday, 6 May 2022.
