After some challenging weeks, Greater Shepparton City Council’s Customer Service counter will re-open to the public from next Wednesday 15 June, 2022.
The counter will be re-opened on a reduced basis from Wednesdays to Fridays between 9am and 3pm as Council continue to work through the challenges associated with new staff, training and support. We plan to transition to full time opening hours, from Monday to Friday, once this training and support is complete.
Due to a critical staff shortage, Council’s Customer Service counter has been closed for some time however we are pleased to now be able to re-open this to the public and help residents with their enquiries face-to-face.
Council’s Acting CEO Chris Teitzel thanked the community for their patience over the past few weeks and said Council was pleased to welcome residents inside the building once again.
“We understand how challenging the past few weeks have been for residents while the Customer Service counter has been closed, however this was a necessary adjustment while we worked to fill vacancies in the team,” he said.
“We are pleased to now be opening the Customer Service counter to the public, on a reduced basis, and being able to help people with their enquiries face-to-face once again.”
As always, Council can be contacted via several methods including phone and email along with our website which can be utilised to make payments, requests or enquiries. These include animal registrations, infringement notices, licensing payments such as pool and spa registrations, permits, and planning and building applications. Translated information is available via the website in eight languages other than English and a phone translation service is also available.
For residents who cannot access these services in other ways, Council’s Customer Service officers will be available in person at the counter to assist from Wednesday 15 June onwards.
Mr Teitzel reminded residents that many staff working at the Customer Service counter are new and still undertaking training, therefore people’s patience is requested and appreciated.
“While residents are welcome to attend the counter to receive assistance, please note that our staff are working through hundreds of enquiries each day so there may be some wait time,” he said.
“Please respect our staff who are doing an amazing job to assist residents with their enquiries during an extremely challenging time.”
Council’s Customer Service counter is located at 90 Welsford St, Shepparton. The counter is open Wednesday to Fridays between 9am and 3pm from Wednesday 15 June. Council can also be contacted via phone at (03) 5832 9700, email at council@shepparton.vic.gov.au or via the website at greatershepparton.com.au/
Please note, Council is experiencing a high volume of enquiries at present and there may be a wait time.
