Council reminds residents the first rates instalment is due 30 September

Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding ratepayers that the first rates instalment for the 2025/2026 financial year is due on Tuesday 30 September.

In Summary

  • First rates instalment due Tuesday 30 September for the 2025/2026 financial year.
  • Multiple payment options available, including online, phone, in person, and through a payment plan.
  • Go paperless - sign up to receive your rates notices via email and access past notices online.
  • Help is available - Council’s Rates team can assist with payment plans or financial difficulty.

Payment options are listed on each rates notice and ratepayers who may be experiencing difficulty in making payment, or who wish to set up a payment plan, are encouraged to contact Council’s Rates team.

There is also the option of receiving rates notices by email, with access to past notices online. Instructions are available on the front of the rates notice.

Council’s rates revenue is essential for delivering more than 120 community services and maintaining infrastructure across the municipality, including roads, parks, libraries, recreation facilities and waste services.

Council’s Director Corporate Services, Chris Teitzel, said Council provides several ways to make payment simple and accessible.

“Council understands that everyone’s circumstances are different, which is why there are a range of payment options available, including online, by phone, in person at Council’s Customer Service and Australia Post, or through a payment plan,” he said.

“Receiving rates notices by email also makes it easier to keep track of payments and store past notices. It is one of the ways Council is working to make services more accessible and convenient for residents.”

Mr Teitzel said Council’s Rates team was available to support residents with any questions about their rates.

“Staff can provide information about payment options, help setting up instalments or payment plans, and assist those who may be facing financial difficulties,” he said.
