The two contracts, totalling more than $600,000, included a major culvert renewal for Katandra Main Road, Tallygaroopna and the Yanha Gurtji Shared Path construction, from Waters Reserve to The Boulevard, Shepparton.
A total of $421,932.61 was awarded to O’Loughlin Excavations Pty Ltd for the major culvert renewal along Katandra Main Road. This involves the reconstruction of culvert and construction of new guard rails to significantly improve safety in the area.
The works also involve demolition and removal of the redundant culvert structure, drainage and culvert installation works, concrete works, road pavement, guard rail installation, line marking and signage.
Council also awarded $194,013.60 to Cleaves Earthmoving and Drainage Pty Ltd for the construction of Stages 1 and 2 of the Yanha Gurtji Shared Path.
This contract will see the construction of a new 2.5 metre wide shared path from Waters Reserve to The Boulevard. This shared path will cater for both pedestrian and bike users, and will include asphalt surface, bollards, signage and line marking. The completion of this project will see another all-weather linkage added to Council’s extensive shared path network.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the tenderers on their successful contracts.
“It is always great to note the awarding of these contracts at our Council Meetings, particularly for works that are important to the growth and development of our region,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing these works get underway and we have no doubt the community will benefit from the completion. Both projects provide further safety measures and convenience when travelling within Greater Shepparton.”
