Greater Shepparton City Council noted the awarding of more than $1.4 million in contacts for five projects at the October Council Meeting on Tuesday, ensuring projects that keep our region moving and residents safe, get underway.
The largest contract of $628,499 was awarded to Jarvis Delahey Contractors Pty Ltd for the construction of the Marungi Street drainage in Shepparton. Stage 1 of the project is set to begin tomorrow, Thursday 30 October 2025, with the works expected to be carried out in four stages.
The works will see the removal of legacy brick drain and installation of new concrete pipes and pits along Marungi Street, between Knight Street and Nixon Street. The works are expected to be completed by early March 2026.
Jarvis Delahey Contractors Pty Ltd were also awarded the contract for new drainage and a shared path along Carroll Road in Shepparton. The works, totalling $294,026, form part of Council’s Shepparton East Drainage Scheme and aim to address poor drainage issues in the area.
GR Design and Construct Pty Ltd were awarded the $255,625 contract for the design, supply and construction of a new public toilet at Riverbank Garden in Murchison. The new public toilet facility will include three unisex units and one accessible unit, replacing the current toilet building. This upgrade will improve accessibility and compliance with standards and requirements, with works expected to commence in February 2026.
The $182,686 contract for a new boundary fence at the Tatura Park Exhibition and Events Complex was awarded to Moretto Building Pty Ltd. The new 60 metre fence, to be located along the corner of Maher and Brown Street, will be constructed from a mixture of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and marine-grade timber, with works expected to be completed by early December 2025.
Finally, it was noted that Cleave’s Earthmoving & Drainage Pty Ltd were awarded the $120,599 contract for construction of Stage 2 of the Ganges Shared Path in Kialla, with these works completed by the end of October 2025.
Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, highlighted the importance of major projects such as these.
“These projects highlight an important part of Council’s role within the community. Our region’s infrastructure must be up to standard and meet community needs and expectations,” he said.
“These projects are part of Councils ongoing commitment to continual growth and improvement throughout the region. They not only enhance safety and accessibility for our residents but also support local businesses and contractors.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while these works get underway.”
