Complimentary parking in Greater Shepparton this festive season

Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce that parking in Council-owned on-street parking spaces will once again be complimentary during December and January. This initiative is aimed at supporting local businesses and bringing some festive cheer to the CBD.

In Summary

  • Complimentary on-street parking will be available across Greater Shepparton from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 to support local shopping and festive activity.
  • Time limits will remain in place, with infringements issued for overstays; residents are reminded to check signage and use longer-stay car parks for extended visits.
  • Multi Deck, Goulburn Valley Health and Carepark car parks are not included in the complimentary parking period.
  • The initiative is part of Council’s ongoing efforts to boost the local economy and encourage residents to shop and dine locally over the Christmas and summer period.

Complimentary parking begins on Monday 1 December 2025 and ends on Saturday 31 January 2026, returning to paid on-street parking from Monday 2 February 2026.

Time limits still apply for the parking spaces during this period, and infringements will be issued to anyone who overstays the time displayed on associated signage.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the initiative is a great way to encourage the community to shop local during the Christmas season.

“This initiative gives residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy all the CBD has to offer while saving on parking costs during December and January. However, we remind everyone to observe time limits,” he said.

“For those planning a longer shopping trip, off-street longer-stay or all-day parking spaces near the CBD are the best option. These car parks remain complimentary year-round.”

Councillor Fern Summer, Yanha Gurtji Ward, encouraged the community to shop and dine local this summer.

“Every purchase from a Shepparton business helps sustain local jobs, strengthen the economy, and keep our community thriving,” she said.

The complimentary parking does not apply to the Multi Deck car park, Goulburn Valley Health or Carepark car parks.
