Join the Greater Shepparton LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee

Council is seeking expressions of interest from the Greater Shepparton community members to be involved in the Greater Shepparton City Council LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee.
Background
Greater Shepparton City Council supports the rights and aspirations of all community members regardless of their culture, faith, gender identity, biological sex characteristics, sexual orientation and linguistic diversity.
We are committed to addressing and preventing discrimination and exclusionary practices against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and/or Questioning, Asexual or Allied (LGBTIQA+) community members to ensure a safe and inclusive community for all.
The Greater Shepparton LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee was established in August 2021 with the purpose of:
- the provision of support, advice and advocacy on inclusive practices for LGBTIQA+ individuals and communities, particularly in relation to Council policies, strategies, services and activities
- maintaining dialogue and active partnerships between participating agencies, associations, organisations and individuals which share a set of beliefs, attitudes and values that support and celebrate the diversity of Greater Shepparton.
Terms of Reference
The Terms of Reference document outlines the function of the advisory committee, terms of appointment and duties of committee members. It also outlines matters of confidentiality, meetings and other regulatory items.

Expression of Interest Form
Expressions of interest to join the GS LGBTIQA+ Committee will be assessed based on the responses to the below questions. The assessment panel will consist of Council officers and representatives from community organisations.
Expressions of Interest are invited from:
- local LGBTIQA+ Associations, Groups and Community Committees;
- local organisations that work directly with the LGBTIQA+ community;
- individuals identifying as LGBTIQA+ with strong community links and the specific skills necessary to support the purpose and role of the Committee;
- local business community; and/or
- community members that identify as an LGBTIQA+ ally
