Mooroopna Children and Families Centre (MCFC), was funded by the Department of Education and training which part of the Shepparton Education Plan. It is the only integrated school and early years setting in the Goulburn Valley which accommodates both students and the wider community to promote well-being and community engagement.

Our priorities are to make sure there is a consistent approach to children’s learning as they move from early learning through to school. We have worked in partnership with our community to provide services that will support the needs of our children, such as Maternal Child Health Nurse, Paediatrician, Play Therapist and are privileged to partner with Our Place. MCFC works in partnership with Our Place to encouraged strong partnerships with our families and the community.

We support learning through play and use appropriate intentional teaching methods in our activities and experiences. This allows the children to explore, discover, negotiate, take risks and solve problems which will enable them to develop strong foundations for lifelong learning.

All of our educators hold qualifications ranging from Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Bachelor of Early Childhood.

Service Commitment

A learning journey involves educators, children, families and the community joining together to provide a high quality and innovative educational program.

We recognise and respect the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn. We value their knowledge and culture, which is reflected in our practice. Our program is inclusive and is based on acceptance of, and respect for diversity of each child and their family regardless of ability, gender, race, language, culture or economic status.

We plan and implement play-based learning experiences using children’s interests, strengths and abilities that will enable them to achieve their full potential.

Our educators are positive role models, guiding behaviour by example and interacting with children in a way that encourages learning as a pleasant and enjoyable experience.  We believe that all children are competent and capable learners. All children learn at different rates, in different ways and at different times. Each child can, at their own pace develop independence, resilience, responsibility, respect and self-identity.

Our physical setting has a single point entry to make it easier for our families and the school community to come together to share facilities and programs. This integrated build allows for continuity of learning helping children make the move from kinder to school a positive transition. Being a part of the “Our Place” site means our service along with all the other site partners has a commitment to collaboration with each other to support children’s learning, family engagement and to playing an active role in early identification and connecting families with services that they need.

Our service is committed to providing a warm, caring and positive environment for everyone involved. We are committed to supporting children to become environmentally responsible, which is embedded in our practice through recycling, veggie gardening and re-using materials.
