Dolena Young Kindergarten believes in offering a play based program which:

• supports children to communicate effectively, developing competent language and literacy skills;
• provides opportunities to enhance a child’s social and emotional development and wellbeing;
• develops the child’s understanding, respect and responsibility of their environment and surrounding community;
• creates healthy and positive lifestyle practices and promotes an understanding of nutrition and wellbeing
• provides children with opportunities to build independence, self-help skills and resilience; and
• incorporates and acknowledges local indigenous history and multicultural community in an age appropriate and respectful way.

We believe we can achieve better outcomes for all children and support individual family dynamics and diverse lifestyles by providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. This includes offering opportunities and support for all families to participate in our educational program, decision making, and quality improvement process.

Dolena Young Kindergarten resonates with the values of theorist Maria Montessori who believed play should be voluntary, purposeful and spontaneous and that education is based on self-directed activity, and collaborative play. It is our role as educators to provide the environment and tools that will support and encourage children to engage in hands on learning and develop skills at their own pace.
